Bonjour~!

At the Nice beach!

Bonjour tout le monde!!

Before I begin posting actual journals, to briefly tell you about me – I am Sohyun (my Korean name), or Sarah and I am from Seoul, Korea, or Andover, Massachusetts, where I attend a boarding school. I have taken one year of French at school and was very pumped to join Abbey Road Program to Nice.

I have been to Paris when I was eleven-ish as part of the short eight-day tour around France, Italy and Switzerland, and loved it so much that I wanted to travel back to France again someday. When I heard about the Abbey Road Program from the Summer Opportunities Counselor at my school, I looked it up on Internet and applied to the Nice program after discussing about it with my family. (With only a year of French, the program to Nice was my only choice.) Having been here for three weeks now, I can tell you that I do not regret making that choice.

Time flew by. It is hard to believe we have only seven days left. I enjoyed every moment being here and will enjoy my remaining days to the fullest! Do not get me wrong though, the program is not just about fun, but I also learn quite a lot of French here. With French-speaking people around me all day, I learn to actually “speak” French, and simultaneously, I can embrace the French culture, as well. On the second day of the program when I was able to understand the waiter and speak full French to him at the restaurant, I was so happy and proud of myself. Each and every day, I learn new stuffs in French, whether it is in class or during electives or at a market, a store, a café – wherever.

I am enjoying Nice very much, not to mention the beautiful beaches here. Wait for my journal that is to be posted soon! (Sorry for my delay in posting here – I just got an access to this blog due to some e-mail problems.)

Sarah Lee :)
